World Literature Today: September/October 2026

With its September 2026 Centennial Issue, World Literature Today officially celebrates 100 years of continuous publication! Highlights include a special foldout cover; the usual brilliant mix of essays, poetry, fiction, and interviews; a booklist on peace and postcard from Oaxaca; plus a preview of The Art of the Literary Magazine: The Top 10 Covers of World Literature Today (1977–2026), which will open at the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art on September 17. Thirty reviews provide a wealth of new and noteworthy books for avid readers, and a bonus top 10 list highlights classic reviews over the past 100 years, from Hesse’s Steppenwolf (1927) to Adania Shibli’s Minor Detail (2020).
