Jump to Japan

Local author Lynn Geis helped to begin an exchange program between Portland Community College and Nagasaki Wesleyan Junior College in Japan, before going herself as a guest teacher for a one-year appointment. In the following years, she led small group tours to Japan, cementing her love of the country and culture. That experience inspired her monthly column in local Japanese newspaper Yuuyake Shimbun, where she wrote about Japanese customs and history for over 23 years. In Jump to Japan, Lynn has gathered and updated her favorite articles, creating a deeply personal collection that covers so much of what makes Japan fascinating to visitors.
